My Mouth Can Predict the Future Chapter 2

Chapter 02

 Every answer came true.

I couldn’t be cheating with Chen nearby.

After almost an hour, Chen called my dad. "what are you doing now?" he asked. "Buying a fishing rod."

Chen praised my dad on the phone for raising such a daughter and promised to promote me. They ended their call planning a weekend fishing trip.

Chen smiled warmly. "Xinyi, you're remarkable."

Shortly after, a young man entered the office. "Xinyi, meet Chen Wei. He'll be your supervisor."

Chen Wei smiled, extended his hand, "Welcome aboard." I smiled back, "Thank you."

I officially started work as an intern, but proud to serve the people.

This wasn’t just my parents’ wish, it was mine.

As a young professional in a state-owned enterprise, I vowed to dedicate my life to our country.

Before, I was eager. Now, with this truth-speaking curse making everything unpredictable, I felt even more determined.

"Hey, Comrade Xiao!"

A familiar voice greeted me entering the office.

Turning, Chen Wei grinned, embodying effortless professionalism with his crisp attire and confident manner.

I thought of my chatty friend who always wished for a handsome, respectable boyfriend. Chen Wei fit the bill perfectly.

But now was work time, no distractions.

"Morning. Didn’t eat yet? Let me take you to our canteen."

So thoughtful. I couldn’t introduce this excellent guy to my friend right now he was mine for now.

On the way, Chen Wei gave me a detailed tour of our office.

After lunch, he showed me my office, which was right next door.

"You get bodyguards?" I asked, noticing two tall, uniformed security officers standing guard.

Chen Wei smiled, "They’re assigned to protect you."

I was shocked. Just starting my first day, and I get bodyguards? Even the ministers don’t have this.

"No pressure. It’s the Minister’s orders. Soon you’ll meet him," Chen Wei reassured me.

At 11 AM, we went to the Minister’s office, more imposing than Deputy Chen’s.

The Minister ran similar verification questions. Though Chen Wei had reported everything, big bosses want first-hand confirmation.

An hour later, the Minister dismissed his doubts. I passed with flying colors.

Before leaving, he told Chen Wei to ensure my safety.

With two security officers and Chen Wei by my side, I’d never felt safer.

Two weeks in, most days were spent idle, with my salary coming straight from the government.

I felt guilty.

Leaning over Chen Wei’s desk, I asked, "Is there really nothing for me to do? I’m feeling useless."

He smiled softly, "Your time to shine will come soon. For now, relax."

I’d heard that a dozen times.

Finally, the day came.

A commercial complex in Jinghua District was under siege. Several hostages taken, bombs planted.

Special Police swarmed around, snipers were in position.

Negotiations had failed. Hostages’ lives were at risk. The police dared not rush in.

Our unit’s chief was sweating nervously. Failure meant disgrace.

Seeing us, his face relaxed then froze. Just two of us?

Chen Wei nudged me forward, "Meet Comrade Xiao, our expert."

I forced a confident smile.

The chief looked skeptical. An expert with only two personnel? He had no choice but to accept us.

I got to work immediately.

The bodyguards kept watch close by, ready for anything.

Chen Wei was with me, ready to assist.

"Where did the suspect hide bombs?" Chen Wei asked.

My mouth answered, "No bombs, they're bluffing."

The chief’s jaw dropped.

Was this girl psychic? She just glanced and read the building like a book?

He wasn’t convinced, fearing grave mistakes.

"How do you know?" he pressed.

I was caught off guard. Before I could answer, my mouth blurted, "Just by looking."

Awkward. The chief scratched his head, no clue how to respond.

Chen Wei quickly reassured, "Trust her. She's right."

Chen Wei’s influence with officials helped sway the chief.

After calls to superiors, the order came to fully cooperate with me.

"Can you pinpoint sniper locations?" Chen Wei asked.

My mouth said, "Yes, but suspects remain hidden, beyond sniper range."

Negotiation remains vital to lure them out.

"When negotiations fail, what should be said to calm them?"

I answered, "Three suspects: one wrongly imprisoned, one who lost a university spot, another bullied by local officials. They want justice, not money."

Understanding their motivations allowed negotiators to ease tensions.

Eventually, the suspects agreed to surrender peacefully.

The hostages emerged unharmed.

The chief exhaled relief and embarrassment.

"Xinyi, you really are amazing. Sorry for doubting you."

My mouth said, "No worries, we all want the best for everyone."

So here I am, still struggling to control this mouth but ready to use this strange curse to serve my country. Nothing can stop me now.
